Reviews for A Merciless Affection

sevfank 2005.09.20 - 09:24PM 38: All the Crème de la Crème Signed
Excellent chapter. The suspense is killing me. Surely Severus will save Sarah! Now say that five times fast. Please let Severus save her! It is angsty enough that I am not altogether sure you will. I just really really hope so. More more more!!!

Author's Response: Thanks, sevfank! As for the rescue...put your expectations on hold and stay tuned for developments. :~)

Excuse typoes on *my* part - the little review box always comes out so tiny on my screen that I can hardly see the letters. There were so *many* typoes I am re-posting the same review!

She's a hard nut, isn't she? Intrinsically, probably rather harder and darker than Severus is, since he's just trying to survive - whereas Sarah could eat the world. I *like* her!

Btw you have a typo here: "she had first understood was sex was."

And do I smell a sub-plot in which we find out what really happened to Eleanor?

Author's Response: Ack, thanks for catching *my* typo, whitehound! I've fixed it.

I hate to have to say it about this character I love, but Sarah seems to be a natural born liar. That she uses the talent mainly to protect herself is fairly amazing.

To be honest, I have not actually decided yet what really happened to Eleanor. If I do, and if it can intersect with this story, then I'm sure it will. If not, it'll just have to be one of those mysteries that leave you wondering forever....

You've built up a lovely tension in this chapter; Sarah may feel she has no control, but she's handling herself wonderfully. I can't wait to see what she and Severus cook up to get her out of this situation. Great work, as always!

Author's Response: Thanks, mouse! Sarah does seem to operate best under a certain amount of pressure.

It has been fun to watch Sarah develope from a school girl to a woman. A very capable woman to boot. I am enjoying this story immensley and cannot wait for the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks, Mary Ella! I really did want to develop this character in this story--to have her change over the course of it. So often in Snape/OC stories, it's really only Snape who changes. And that's not really fair, is it?

Oh, I'd forgot about the ink! I'm glad there's a chance of outside assistance.

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! Isn't it nice when stuff from earlier in the story proves useful? :~)

This little glimpse into the Nott family was fascinating--poor Eleanor! Chester and his wife seem harmless. Are they perhaps potential allies? As always, clever and resourceful Sarah proves she is Snape's match. Now, when is our hero going to arrive on the scene?

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing, Aiden! Unfortunately, Chester is pretty much as his wife described him: he doesn't want to get his hands dirty.

I love the irony of the idea that Sarah is a strong and capable woman...so when's Severus going to rescue her? ;~)

Sarah and Snape are married so what Bella or what the Notts want doesn't matter one whit. They are all so inbred that they are bound to fail. That is where Voldeis big plan will fail, there aren't enough pure bloods to make a decent gene pool. The theme song for the pure bloods should be "Dueling Banjos". Sarah's baby will be geneticall superior to all of them because he won't be pure blood. Let's get her message out to Snape ASAP so her Dark Knight can rescue her. Get him on a thestral, a hippogriff, a dragon, anything big enough to fly him there and bring them both back, and for good measure kill all the Notts and Bella too. This is too damn much angst for her to produce a healthy baby. Let's can the angst along with kicking Umbridge out on her ass and get to the end of term with Severus and Sarah fulfilling his fantasy in the Gryffindor 7th year girls dorm. I want more Snape, this is 2 chapters with no Snape at all. I prefer Snape & Sarah together with no one to bother them, that's good reading.

Author's Response: Next chapter will give you some fuel for some fun butt-kicking fantasies. And we'll hear from Snape next chapter, too. But you should know by now that Snape and Sarah alone together doesn't always mean smooth sailing!

What an upsetting turn of events. I hope Sarah breaks away from her rotten family very soon. I know if I was a wizard, no one would be able to threaten my child, with or without a wand. Looking forward to the next chapter......

Author's Response: I've uploaded the next chapter! Thanks for reviewing. :~)

What a great chapter!! I'm enjoying your story very much....must continue reading now!

Author's Response: Yay, a new reader/reviewer! Welcome, annabelx! I hope you continue to enjoy.
