It's getting so intense. Thank you for writing! I can just hear snape saying some of these things. More!!!!!
Author's Response: Thanks, sevfank! I'm glad that I was able to make him feel "present" in this chapter, even though he's not physically there. |

Whohoo! An update! Carpe baculum? :D
I'm glad she got to talk to Snape at least, though he wasn't exactly jumping on his white charger, was he? Actually, it's interesting that he behaved like an instructor - teaching her how to save herself in a way. Advising, but not taking over.
I also like how you describe Malfoy as "a friend, of sorts". I have one or two of those, myself. The relationship between those two has always fascinated me. Malfoy's bound to complicate things further.
Anyway, great chapter!
Author's Response: Thanks, Aestel! I hope the next chapter of "Yes, but..." is progressing at a faster rate than the last? Please?
One really has to wonder what Snape and Malfoy have in common--Malfoy is five or six years older than Snape, he's a pureblood from the upper classes, while Snape's a half-blood from the lower classes. And while Snape has always seemed to give Draco extra attention, can there truly be genuine friendship between Severus and Lucius? What's the background there? I've postulated what seemed likely to me, but I hope we find out more in canon before the end. |

Awesome Fanfiction. It has taken me arounf four to five days to finish it and it is very delicious I must say. I wish you were my mom or maybe my second mom. heh ^^;;
Author's Response: Thanks, myfairrie! It's nice to have a new reader. :~)
Do remember that if I were your mom, I'd be ignoring you to write. ;~) |

Given the way her character is developing, I think we are more likely to see Sarah being the cavalry and riding in to rescue Snape at some point, rather than vice versa. Although she is showing her age (lack of) a bit here: teenagers want emotions to be big and grand and simple, and she hasn't yet learned that adults rarely have single, unconflicted motives for *anything*.
Author's Response: How true that is! Even though teens easily have motivations as mixed as an adults (although they seldom realize it).
Also consider the full emotional implications of the motive Nott and Bella have assigned to Snape. No doubt Sarah is considering them. |

Looks like Sarah is going to have to tough it out for a bit yet. I would have been disappointed in a daring rescue attempt. That would have been definately ooc for Snape. |

Hooray, go Sev! I hope Sarah gets to sleep unmolested for a while. I'm looking forward to the DE scrap over Sarah's person.
Author's Response: Thanks, Owlbait! There'll be a bit of scrapping between Bella and Franklin in the next chapter. :~) |

Is A Tangled Web that book about the jug that for various convoluted reasons has become the most desirable family heirloom? It`s been a few years since I last read LM Montgomery. Anyway, I`m glad Severus didn`t turn into the cavalry in this chapter. He`s not powerful enough, and instead Sarah and Severus have to use their wits, which is a much more interesting resolution to Sarah`s dilemma.
Author's Response: Thanks, Apothecaria! Yes, that's the one. Such a dark book, compared to most of her work.
I'm glad that someone is glad that Severus didn't charge to her rescue. She is, after all, not in any pressing danger, and her captors are perfectly willing to let her go if she agrees to their demands. That being the case, for Severus to leave his post at the school (and risk being sacked), to try to get the Order involved in a quarrel between Death Eaters (and risk having his loyalties exposed), and to storm a well-warded mansion (and risk his and others' lives)...well, it doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? |

Brilliant chapter, as always. You've done a great job of depicting poor Sarah's fear and anxiety. Imagine being confined to a room designed to facilitate rape. Ugh. I liked the way Snape stays fairly calm and collected and comes up with spells that can help Sarah defend herself, if necessary. (Nice reference to HPB, by the way.) And of course, there is his palpable irritation when she starts to question him about his original motives. I can imagine that the Notts are right, to some degree, about his motives, but clearly he loves her now. I certainly hope she doesn't hold it against him; after all, she was pretty calculating as well.
Author's Response: Thanks, Aiden! Snape can't afford to panic, in his line of work, can he? Although if you read between the lines, he was pretty worried about her absence. |

Oooooooo, I can't sit still wondering how they'll get her out
of there. Hope the reunion is explicit... ;)
Author's Response: Thanks, Mel! The reunion will be...interesting.... |

This keeps getting better and better. I'm worried for Sarah, and can't wait to see how she gets out of this one.
Author's Response: Thanks, vanityfair! Sarah needs all the worrying-over she can get. |
