Reviews for Professor Snape's Address

Most definitly one of the best descriptions/discussions about Slytherin house and the problems of being one. I'd bow to your greatness, however, a true Slytherin bows to nobody.

Author's Response: I understand perfectly, Amelia, and I know praise when I see it, with or without bowing . Thank you! ~S.

This story is one that will stay with me. It gives a different view of Slytherin House than we normally get; one which acknowledges that ambition and cunning do not equal evil. That Snape suggests that the path of ambition and cunning lies directly away from evil is one which fits him perfectly.

Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing, HumanTales! You can tell I am going to be a bit impatient if none of the Slytherins don't come into (positive) action in HBP... -S.

Another beautiful peice in your collection of missing moments from canon that you write so well. Snape shows such wisdom when dealing with his own House. Here's my favorite passage: "Only the sadists among you might find some satisfaction under the Dark Lord’s tutelage, but then again there are better, more risk-free ways of indulging in your irrepressible desire to torment people. One option is, for example, to become a teacher, which has for added benefits that your vicious pleasures are sanctioned by the law, and that you receive payment for them.” That is IC Snape dialogue done to perfection!

Author's Response: Thanks, Vocalion - you are generous as always! You know, that is *my* favourite passage too: I'm always over the moon when I manage to insert a bit of fun... *winks at Vocalion, Occlumency's Purveyor of Brilliant Humour* -S.

What a fantastic, true-to-canon scene you've developed here. I've been very curious if, in the coming books, Sltyherin house will develop factions. And I think that, if Snape were to play a role in this, he'd do it very much along the lines that you have outlined. Wonderful piece! Thanks for writing. Best, Sophie

Author's Response: My pleasure, Sophie ;-). Thanks for reviewing - I'm glad you liked the story! ~S.

Very nice! I like the way Snape subtly recruits the smarter Slytherins to think and then talk with him. But I wonder why none of the older ones asked about Snape's reputed membership in the Death Eaters, or how he knew so much about Voldemort. I would think Snape would mention to Zabini that Voldemort himself had a Muggle mother. Hmm, perhaps a second chapter? It would be interesting to see what Snape does with his little Slytherin's Army. Thanks for sharing this story!

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing, June! - I tried to keep a precious balance between what is said and unsaid. I think Snape says quite enough for the Slytherins to understand that his information is first-hand; but as he never openly states that he is/was a Death Eater, they can guess that even if they asked him, he isn't likely to give definite answers to questions of that kind. As to Voldemort's Muggle father, I'm not sure Snape even knows. The Death Eaters certainly seemed shocked when Harry threw the fact in their face in OotP... ~S.
