I think this is my favorite chapter so far. I can see Snape having that conversation with Dumbledore. You are keeping everyone IC, which I appreciate.
Author's Response: "You are keeping everyone IC" - that is possibly the greatest compliment I could receive. Thank you for sticking with me :) Two more chapters to go! |

Nice addition. I like the fact that he was watching the Potter's house for their return. You showed his life of darkness well and now I can see the path for his return to the light.
Author's Response: I was sure the Dark Lord would send one of his more competent followers for such an important task - Severus was the obvious choice. Thank you very much for reviewing! |

Omigosh, NOW he starts to wake up ... he still doesn't know that it wasn't Lily in the closet the night of the dance? Will you tell us in the next chapter whether he knows Pettigrew is a DE? Ack! Train wreck coming!
Author's Response: Bellatrix had probably forgotten about it by now, and since she doesn't really care, I doubt she'll ever tell Severus the truth about that night. He doesn't know Pettigrew is a DE yet, but he will pop out of the woodwork soon. :) The next chapter holds many answers and ties up a few loose ends.

Wow Bella's really wrapped around his toe!
Author's Response: Around his... toe? XD I think you have the wrong body part there *waggles her eyebrows suggestively*
Thanks for reading, Mel! |

Very nicely done. I love how Severus drove Lily away, but I feel sorry for him that the one person that truly cared for him had to have that happen to her. I also like the fact it was Remus confronting him and not James....I'm still curious to learn more about "it"
Author's Response: Well he did it for her own good, I suppose. I think he had truly lost himself to his dark side at this point by turning her away. James or Sirius would have been too... confrontational. Remus was the perfect choice. "It" will be explained fully in two chapters. :) |

Excellent chapter, and I'm still reading and enjoying your story. What is it about Snape that he can do the most dreadful things imaginable, and yet still retain a trace of nobility? There are so many fascinating ways to interpret his character, and although your view of him is darker than mine, I can appreciate your vision and admire your talent. This is a most intriguing story.
Author's Response: Thank you for the vote of confidence, Vocalion. :) I really needed the boost, I'm feeling rather down (car accident yesterday and thousands of dollars of damage to my car x_x).
The best thing about writing Severus is that he isn't really defined by canon. JKR _hints_ at things, but nothing is concrete. Lots of wiggle-room left for us authors. :) |

I like the description of receiving the Dark Mark. I definitely agree with your portrayal that it is a painful experience. I think poor Severus may be starting to realize what he has gotten himself into, a tad too late though.
Author's Response: I had to think long and hard about the Marking - many hours of discussion with my beta lead us to the final. We went on the premise of branding.
On the latter... we have a saying in my language "Spyt kom altyd te laat" (Regret always follows too late). |

Good desciprion of the process... one of the best!
Author's Response: I wanted it understated, but powerful. Thank you for reviewing again. :) |

Pours Severus! I just wanted to stop him, but couldn't. Powerfully written! ~Lisa
Author's Response: Thank you very much, Lisa. :) I wanted this chapter to be as stark and shocking as possible. |

Hmm, I wonder what would have happened if he hadn't been able to distinguish Voldie from the others. When you had him do the "I remember" part, I was almost expecting his mother to appear and try to talk him out of becoming a Death Eater. Drat, no such luck! Now, how long will it take before he finds out Lily was not faithless, and before he regrets this night and goes to Dumbledore.....
Author's Response: I'm very much like Severus when it comes to foolish fancies like spectral mothers - there was not going to be a Dues ex Machina to get him out of this one. There are four more chapters after this one - you'll just have to stick with me for a little while longer. :)
Thank you for reviewing again, June! |
