Reviews for The Great Snape-Deveroux Grudge Match - Part II: Watcher and Hunter

You killed Trevor! Why didn't anyone go to McGonagall or Dumbledore? That was a very cruel death for a poor little toad. And I know what Snape's going to do with those little flies, and he's been a real bastard on that. Though you think by now, the kids would've learned to keep some poly juice on hand just for these occasions. A hair of Harry's, and he can be in two places at the same time. Oh, I suppose they would be caught eventually, but it would be worth it in a long run. I love the way you're incorporating so many characters into your story and keeping them all in character to boot. Wonderful job as always!
~Lisa (I wasn't sure if you'd understand the "they killed Trevor, you bastards!" reference so I didn't use it.)

Author's Response: Actually, its implied in the next chapter (which is in the que) that Snape actually does go to Dumbledore on this. Heh, never thought about polyjuice, but that wouldn't have worked: even in Chapter 1 of the first part, it is mentioned there are foe-glasses and special mirrors that can detect polyjuice use in the corridors for safety. Sirius, in Chapter 10, has to go past a patrol which uses such a mirror. Interesting thought, though! Yeah, it was not easy killing Trevor -- I got some pretty shocked comments. You think Malfoy's bad now ... well, hang on tight. And no, I wouldn't have gotten the reference :) Thanks as always for the review!

Neville sat up again and shook his head to clear it -- and was promptly brained by a softball-sized sphere. He fell to the ground again. Poor Neville! But you've captured the kids interactions perfectly!

Have I mentioned how much I like Jaspine? I love a good Slytherin and she seems good. Of course, that could just be a Slytherin trick. Excellent job!

I love the twins! I always thought if they put their mind to it they would be a great asset to the Order of the Phoenix. Thank you for proving the right

"Are you mad because I don't send you flowers anymore?" Their byplay is wonderful. And the tension is mounting tangibly. I am so enjoying this.

This is a wonderful story...so many things going on at once! I have to read part I now so I can get what is going on in the background. I like the introduction of the notion that Severus is a vampire or somehow related to or has deep knowledge of them. I would make sence. I have loved your previous writing so I am so looking forward to how this story evolves. Great job!

Ohmigod! I dearly loved the 'training sequence'. He's right, of course, but that doesn't make him less of a bastard in his way of pointing it out. Wonderful chapter, Pigwidgeon! Ari had good points, but until she learns to win people over, they're apt to be ignored. And I have to admit, I'm rather stymied as you've suggested battle plans here that I've been mulling about for my next long fic. Back to the thinking board.
~Lisa

Author's Response: Eh, not necessarily. I'm sure what you had in mind will be Ok. And thank you much!

Hermione admonished the boys in a note included with the packages not to waste the magic in them. Whereupon they immediately turned them on and began trying them out. LOL! Now that is the boys we all know and love!

"No owl of mine had better take treats without leaving a mark on the hand that offers them." And that is the Snape, I know and love! I adore the owl.

But aren't the kids jumping to conclusions? I won't give any of my theories, but Snape has been out in the daytime. Excellent chapter!

~Lisa

Author's Response: Heh heh heh. I was wondering if someone would bring that up. Your instincts are correct: the students don't have all the facts, and they are only half right. However, there are many, many many variations on the vampire mythos. Some of them do "allow" for vampires to go out during the daytime. In perhaps the most famous version, "Dracula" the County does, indeed, appear in the daytime -- he's just not as powerful. In "Grudge Match" universe, vampires can appear during the daytime ... with a lot of precautions for covering their skin and eyes, for they are photosensitive. Obviously, they travel at night whenever possible.

Well, I'm glad Snape accepted the owl and feel sorry, almost, for his losing Lily. And I feel sorry for Jeorges who is realizing too late, he's never been involved. And sorry for Ari because she's really stuck. and most of all, sorry for me because I have to wait for antoher update.
~Lisa

Author's Response: Awww ... don't worry, the next bit should be up in the very near future. Jeorges and Marie Deveroux have surprised me with how much they have impacted the story. They started out as marginal characters, then took on a life of their own, particularly Jeorges. Thank you, as always!

Wonderful use of canon, Pigwidgeon! What is the meaning of her owl's name?
~Lisa

Author's Response: Heh, Fingolfin is a nod to Tolkien. Fingolfin was an elf, featured in The Simarilian (I think I spelled that right), which is the prequal to Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

BTW, sorry I didn't review this earlier, but I only saw the first posted chapter. Ah, a lesson learned in jumping quickly to read. Looking forward to the next update!

Yet another wonderful chapter. I'm not sure if I like Jaspine yet or not, but Snape's rejoiner to Longbottom was priceless!
