Reviews for The Great Snape-Deveroux Grudge Match - Part II: Watcher and Hunter

Great insite to Severus' past! Very well done and believable. I could almost believe that I am reading a spin-off of the cannon books! I can't wait for the next chapter!!

As with the first story (I read the whole thing before I started this one) Part L, this is a great story! You have done a wonderful job defining Severus's character (very much in cannon I think) and your new Deveroux character. Both are so strong willed and stubborn that it makes for a very tense plot. I have really liked your insinuation that Severus is of vampire backgroud (I am guessing that his father was vampire and his mother was witch?) You give us little hints and slips that just tantalize us for more. It is so dramatic to watch Severus go from hardened vengful killer (I was tinking of Pettegrew's death in Part L) who has given up on himself to some one who is struggling to be something good and human again. Great job. If I could give you a rating higher than 10 I would!

Author's Response: Wow! I'm speechless ... thank you! As for Snape's parents, you'll find out in the next chapter, which I hope to put up soon. I'm glad you and about everyone else reviewing seem to be enjoying this tale -- we are certainly enjoying spinning it :)

I feel so sorry for Severus, watching his mother self-destruct and basically being cursed from birth for a decision he did not make. I'm anxious to see if he is a full vampire or he half-vampire (the sunlight issue keeps coming up with me). I have lots of questions, I'm hoping you have all the answers!
~Lisa

Author's Response: The question on whether Snape is vampire or dhampire will be answered in the very next chapter. Yes, it's easy to feel sorry for Severus in this chapter! I envision the story of Lucie and Karcharias as the Romeo and Juliet story -- gone horribly wrong. She was part of a family immersed in the traditions of the Order, and he was the enemy to much of her family. She was always strong and rebellious, and probably fell for the charming, wealthy Karcharias partly to get out of her controlling family's grip. Alas! The series of events wound up making both parties quite unhappy.

Excellent story telling. I was completely mesmerized.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you!

nice one! Just the german bits seem a bit "inaccurate". But apart from that, can't wait for the next chapter Mimmy

Author's Response: Thank you, Mimmy. I'm a bit puzzled -- inaccurate, how? If possible, I'd like to clear up any inconsistencies. I did have someone who spoke German look this over, and I have a passing familiarity with the language through classical voice study. E-mail me if you wish: ningerbil@aol.com. I like to be as accurate as possible.

NO! You can't stop there! I want to know what happened Severus' mother! What is he going to do about the Dark Mark burning? I love the conversation between him and Ari. A Watcher is a thankless job and I feel sorry for her. And had a good chapter. I can't wait for the next one!
~Lisa

Author's Response: Thank you :) The second part of the chapter is waiting for final approval as we speak (type? ... never mind) You will find out what happens, and I will warn you ... hanky alert for the next bit!

This is so in depth, it amazes me. Lucie is such tragic figure. I wonder if her insanity would have happened if her parents had been more forgiving and understanding. Or was she destined to be insane matter what? See, even your author's notes make me think! The other forums sounds very interesting, with lots of good questions -- sounds like mine!

Wow! Of course, Ron needs to remember that Lupin's a werewolf. So Snape is a vampire... that's surprising me. It's rather a good thing the unicorn crashed the party though Snape may not think that. I wonder what Crabbe is up to. And what's going to happen now that Voldemort will think Snape has already chosen sides and has Snape already chosen sides? I love the ambiguity of your Snape! And I know that veritaserum is not going to be pretty! Excellent job!

You have captured Snape and his petty vindictiveness and Potter at his most self-righteous in perfect clarity. One of them needs to remember he's a grown up any other needs to figure out to be treated like an adult one must act like an adult.
This has to be the most perfect detention I've ever read. But I think I know what one of the questions Harry will ask a veritaserum-drugged Snape. This is not going to be pretty. Wonderful foreshadowing here.
~Lisa

Author's Response: Again, thanks, Lisa! This scene was fun to write, in a twisted sort of way. And you are right ... the veritaserum scene is NOT going to be pretty.

I have enjoyed this story immensely, it has many interesting plotlines that I am looking forward to you bringing together

Author's Response: Thanks! My best friend/coauthor and I are having fun with this, so I'm glad others are enjoying it as well :)
