Reviews for The Great Snape-Deveroux Grudge Match - Part II: Watcher and Hunter

Oh, man! This... this is something. I really hope you're working on part three. This was... I hate sputtering, but I have no words to tell you how marvelous it is. Man.
~Lisa (and thanks for the song, too)

Author's Response: Awwww ... well, thank you! I hope to get the first chapter ready and in the que by this weekend or early next week. The song idea was my co-author's -- it fit that scene so well.

Sigh. I kept hoping that you would follow through on your promise in your earlier review responseto have Deveroux come to Snape's rescue. But I see it didn't come to pass. I'm really torn about this review. You write so well, it's a shame you made your female OC so cowardly, self-serving, self-righteous, hypocritical, dishonourable, a bit stupid, and just plain despicable. The result is that your story is a bit uneven: it goes back and forth between brilliant segments to not. One big question I did have about your last set of chapters: How could AD view and know all about any interaction with Deveroux and Snape, but somehow not know anything about students kidnapping and interrogating a professor until Deveroux told him about it? That just does not compute with your earlier chapters. Or does it, somehow?

Author's Response: Well, actually, yes, she did save him. Actually, she saves him twice, but the first time is pretty subtle. The very first time is when she takes the Watcher's Vow in Chapter 9 of Part I, and this is explained in "Languages of Darkness and Light" in Part II. The second time is in "Point of No Return," when Aurellia Deveroux, realizing Snape is in trouble, Summons Fedhamohsi to assist, and that's when Fedhamohsi drives off Lucius Malfoy. She doesn't interfere herself, by the way, because she isn't completely sure where Snape is, and she -- by Watcher's instinct -- knows help from the unicorns is closer. Well, Dumbledore sees most if it, probably because Deveroux tells him something of their meetings, at least at first. The reason why Dumbledore doesn't catch on to what the students are doing that night is he was talking to Remus Lupin about some pretty heavy issues before this: more missing Auror apprentices, new curses, more disappearances. He tells Aurellia this, and when he goes to the door, Dumbledore's first thought is why did he leave Lupin? You might say he was, alas, distracted. Also, with it only being fairly early evening, and with Snape and Deveroux getting along better, he wasn't as concerned with Snape right then. In general, I don't think Dumbledore expected a uniting of three Gryffindors and a Slytherin in what is a really cold-hearted, ruthless trap. He tends to see the goodness in everyone and everything, and DD is a true altruist. Sometimes, that makes him blind. I'm a little stunned over some reactions about Aurellia in general, but regarding these later chapters, remember: we've shown she has a temper. She flips out at the end because she is just as angry with herself as she is with Snape -- remember her conversation with Dumbledore, later, about her little brother. She feels a LOT of guilt over what happened to Kiro. Also, even in her grief, she can't completely dissolve the Watcher's Vow. Unfortunately, her not responding when Snape was in danger is going to come back to haunt Aurellia -- big time. In fact Dumbledore is going to comment that he wishes he would have forced Aurellia to completely sever the Watcher's Vow after Snape leaves, after ... ah, but that would be telling way too much. You will see a different, harder, stronger ... and more humbled Aurellia by the end of Part III.

Oh my goodness! I feel so sorry for them both. You've made me cry again. I don't think the next chapter is going to make me any happier, so I hope you're on part three now!

Great story and a great chapter, it is going to be tough waiting for the next part.

Author's Response: Thank you! Barring the unforseen, you shouldn't have to wait too long. Part III is coming together very well; it's 80 percent written, at least in rough draft form, and 100 percent outlined. It will be longer than Part II, but not much longer. Updates for Part III will be more sporadic because it isn't 100 percent complete yet; Parts I and II were completed before we started posting here.

..........wow........wow.......wow.......This chapter was unbelievable, simply unbelieveable. Poor Severus. Deveroux only heard part of his story I bet. Not the beginning that would have cleared him a bit - given some insite as to how his knowledge came to be used (it wasn't like he did it on purpose). This will not go well for him in the romance department but I would bet that winning her heart back will be the least of his concerns. Oh Merlyn....this is so not good! Great method of bringing out some past information (and I love to see the golden trio humbled once in a while). Now we have to wait to see if the rest of the prediction will come true...or will it be figurativly (his heart will be slain but he will not be physically killed?...or will he be die physically by Deveroux hexing him into next millenia?) OH how I can't wait for the next installment!!! 10++++ for this chapter!

Oh my God. I thought it would be bad, but I had no idea how bad. This is by far the worst that could be. I'm so sorry for Snape. I'm sorry for Ari too, but I'm so sorry for Snape. Well... you've actually moved me to tears on this.
~Lisa

Author's Response: Wow! I hate to tell you this, but brace yourself: It's about to get worse. This was merely the first domino in a looooong line. Hang on! It's going to be a bumpy ride!

OOOOO... How can you stop THERE..ARGUH! What a GREAT chapter!! I had a stron feeling that the ides of March prediction was about this little plot. The little prats haven't gotten to the more serious questions yet, like "was Snape involved in the murder of Jaspine's brother or Harry's parents....oh that ought to be really good, especially if Aurellia is near by to hear the answers. Good job and now I am on sitting on the edge waiting for the next installment.....
