I much prefer the lighter side, all the angst gets over wrought and melodramtic after a while. I didn't mind reading about Maximus' attack on Rosie ans Snape's revenge I enjoyed. All the angst and guilt though were too much. The old S.O.B. deserved what he got and more. Guilt is such and unproductive emotion, the truely evil never feel guilt, could you imagine Hitler or Voldemort being consumed by guilt? It is an emotion that is wasted on all the nice, normal people, but should be forced on the evil. I'm not evil and I refuse to feel guilt.
Author's Response: I don't really think it says much that in getting revenge on his father he would be joining such figures as Hitler, Stalin and Voldemort, although I do understand the point that you are making. He shouldn't have to feel guilt, it's true, but I personally don't feel that Severus should have behaved the way he did. Torturing someone to me doesn't appear the most productive route to take. Within my own family, one of my parents wasn't treated particularly well by any of their family members. It's affected my life in a number of ways, and it hurts me greatly to know what they endured, but I wouldn't feel particularly proud of them had they retaliated violently. I almost feel that Severus' "guilt" is not so much guilt at his actions towards his father, but the fact that he has to explain his actions to someone he loves and to someone who he knows won't condone what he did. Thanks for all your comments, they've been really constructive and helpful. |

Oh, I do have a silly grin plastered across my face. Thank you! And thanks again for giving those of us who are also useless with a mascara brush someone to look up to.
Author's Response: ;-D I'm terrible with any kind of make-up product. Mascara is bad enough, but how on earth do people put on eyeliner without gouging their eyes out!! Lol! |
