This story always makes me smile. I thought Snape was highly in character, and the visuals were adorable.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! It's so nice to get reviews on old stories and know that they still please.

Hello there - was just wandering around the site and stumbled across this - I know everyone spoke of it's cuteness - actually I found it more touching.... and rather revealing about Severus... especially in light of what we now know about him. When he speaks to the cat about being a torturer and a murderer, it's strangely moving... after all the cat won't judge him, will it? When you spoke of the kitten being ugly and scrawny, I wonder if Severus didn't see a little of himself there... anyway, lovely little piece to enjoy before bed. Thank you.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your comments! I'm glad this little story has stood the test of time - and Book 7.

This has been the best story I've read in ages. Cute, funny and your Snape is spot-on. 'Now he was a torturer of small, sick animals as well as a murderer of children’s pets.' Brilliant! 11/10

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun writing for that challenge.

This is such a terrific story! You were able to find a balance between Snape's natural snarkiness and his humanity. He may be the King of Sarcasm, but he's not a monster. I loved the little kitten batting at Snape's nose! Many have died for less!

Author's Response: Thank you! I never thought Snape was a monster, and I like to think Minerva knows him as well. And kittens have won over many a hard heart.

Had to tell you that I've reread this numerous times, and it always puts a smile on my face. Hmm, I wonder if kitty later fathered a litter of kittens, and the firstborn was named for Severus.... Thanks for writing this!

Author's Response: Hi June! I'm glad the story is holding up over time - got to say, it's one of my favs. Thanks for commenting!

"Snape turned his head carefully to glare at it." I love it. That line pretty much sums it all up. It's so very Snape.

Author's Response: Glad you liked it, and thanks for saying so!

There are *so* many funny lines in this. "'No, please, Professor, don’t kill him.' Snape felt a flicker of irritation that that had been the boy’s first thought. Not that he wasn’t right." and after the first dosing: “There. I think that will be enough torture of tiny defenseless animals by the evil Potions Master for now.” ... “I will continue with your punishment later.” I think this is totally IC for Snape. There's usually a disconnect between what he says and what he does. (I have theories about what was going on at the top of that Astronomy tower.) I think it's funny, and if it's cute, it's in a realistic way. Some things in life actually *are* cute. I don't really see Snape as having fallen for the cat or even the boy so much as falling for the challenge. The only unrealistic thing I saw was the idea that a non-medical person could diagnose and treat the cat so quickly.

Author's Response: Thank for all your thoughts. And you are correct, it was the challenge that got him - just as McGonagall thought it would! You may have me on the quick diagnoses thing. Having been around pets all my life, the signs are second nature to me. But a lot of this is common sense and observation, and I'm sure Hogwarts Library has books on cat ailments. Right? :-) As for cute, yeah, something's just are.

Awwww underneath that harsh exterior Severus is just a sweetheart, although I won't let him hear me say that. Loved the kitten, I'm sure it will seek Severus out sometime in the future and make his life a total misery in the best way possible. Lovely story.

Author's Response: I'm sure it will seek Severus out sometime in the future and make his life a total misery lol! I never thought of that, but wouldn't that be funny? Glad you liked the story.
