Reviews for The Return of The Great Snapini

I don’t want to argue. Perhaps I am too concerned with meeting the challenge requirements, but isn’t that why it’s called a challenge? Otherwise, your story would just be posted on the regular site. As for Snape being spotted just as he was leaving the dungeons that’s true. But it’s also true that he went all the way to the Muggle house that way. "It's your own fault for not having the presence of mind to bring an overcoat.” You said, “My goal is to attract readers to seek out my other story if they find this one entertaining. Entering the challenge was only a means to that end.” Please don’t spoil the challenge for people who are trying to meet the requirements. You are a good writer! You could start with canon Snape and craft a story that is both funny (something I can’t do!) AND meet the requirements of the challenge. There is still time. I give you that challenge.

Again, I’m enjoying your story, but I’m still having trouble with how it pertains to the challenge. I have to agree with Hermione; "If you ARE the real Professor Snape, why are your (typo) dressed in a kilt?" OK, we know why he’s dressed that way, but why would he walk around Hogwarts (or anywhere else) that way unless Voldemort himself was holding a wand to his head? Are you saying that it wouldn’t occur to Snape the spy and Death Eater to cover the costume with a cloak? Please!

Author's Response: All I care to say in my own defense is that this is a comedy. It should be read as such, and you seem much too concerned about it meeting the requirements of the challenge. Other reviewers seem to feel differently, but you are certainly entitled to your opinion and are free to express it. Thank you for spotting the typo. It has been corrected.

Author's Response: More thoughts on your criticisms: Snape was not "walking around Hogwarts", he was just emerging from the dungeons. I used this device to include a reference to Neville's boggart which was one of the challenge requirements. I am delighted that you claim to be enjoying my story. You've enjoyed it so much, in fact, that you knocked my rating down to four stars. Something tells me that when chapter three is posted, I will be losing another star. I shudder to think what would happen if you WEREN'T enjoying my story.

First, let me say that I’m enjoying this story very much, and will read the entire thing when I have time. I love snarky/funny. Second, I don’t wish to rain on anyone’s parade. But, I don’t see how this story fits the challenge. You start with a very OOC Snape. Planning a romantic evening?? A woman sitting in his lap?? In the Headmaster’s office??? With no explanation of how this comes about? Getting him to that point would have satisfied the challenge, but starting there? He’s so OOC to start with, anything’s possible.

Author's Response: In my author's notes I summarized briefly events leading up to this point in the story. Perhaps, in retrospect, I should have elaborated further. To address your questions: 1. Yes, a romantic evening has been planned. At this point in the story, Snape and Clancy have known each other for 15 months, and it's high time SOMETHING occurs between them. 2. She is not just a woman, she is a teacher, and colleague of Snape's. 3. They are not in the headmaster's office, they are in the staff room. Moreover, they are both adults, and they are ALONE in the staff room. I responded to this challenge because its title was so similar to that of my own story, HIGHLY IMPROBABLE. In my opinion, by the time chapter three is posted, I will have fulfilled all of the requirements and then some. My goal is to attract readers to seek out my other story if they find this one entertaining. Entering the challenge was only a means to that end. Thank you for reading, and I hope that you will continue to enjoy my story.

I'm going to hex Hermione if she screws this up! I agree, Snapini is a great wizard. And I loved the saw exchange. ;-D So lemony pineapples are coming up? I just love your humor... and the pineapple. ~Lisa

Author's Response: Hermione has something deliciously evil cooked up to punish Snape. She IS a childish twit, after all. She may get EVEN with Snape, but look at it this way: This is the Occlumency archive, so she won't GET Snape! As for Chapter 3, pineapples aplenty; the lemons? I'll try. But remember, for me, comedy is easy; sex scenes are hard. Come to think of it, that wouldn't be a bad chapter title...

Karina, I am almost at a loss for words. The boy reminded me of young Severus (you did that on purpose!!!) and I got a little choked up at the end there. The funny parts (the rest of the story) made me laugh out loud as usual. Wow, lady, you have really done it this time! Magnificent. ###Liz

Author's Response: Thanks. That was the little piece that I mentioned to you that I was so worried about, remember?

"Are you a magician? Alas, no" "Magically inclined", "kilt" , dancing pineapples, CHARLOTTE CHURCH! Karina, you crack me up! I will be back to check for updates, you can count on that! I'm still chuckling away to myself! *****~Annie :D

Great job! Loved Clancy's lure. Poor Snape is severely outclassed in the manipulation game.

You always do it, dear. You always leave me laughing. But at least Snapini won't have to be saved from the dancing fruits... I mean, saved by a dancing fruit. (Sorry, couldn't resist). ~Lisa

I know the neepes and tatties will come out soon. I am very glad you entered this challenge and look forward to the next chapter. Any excuse to see Snape and Clancy together is reason enough to read.
