Reviews for Highly Improbable

I found this story through *Sigune's artwork for it at DeviantART. This first chapter has hooked me, all right--I can hardly wait to delve into the rest! Good start!

Author's Response: Thanks for your comment! Sigune's drawings of Snape had a great influence on me while I was writing this story. :-)

This was positively one of the best stories I have ever read! Initally the idea of a comedic Snape story was a big turn off for me, but it's been recc'd so many times that I finally gave in - it was worth every second of my time! I laughed so hard I cried :) Thanks for sharing your talent! Cheers ~H

Author's Response: Thank you, HandPFeather! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :-)

This prologue is rather interesting. Until I read your author note, I was taken aback. I thought you have found the key of JKR's mind :) Vocalion guessed a long time ago who was the Half-Blood Prince :) Well done! As soon as I can, I will read the following chapter. ~ Atlantel

Author's Response: Hi! No, unfortunately I am a very poor theorist. I had absolutely no idea that Snape was the HBP, but I was able to get by with only a few minor revisions, thankfully. Glad you stopped by! :-)

What a delightful story! Hilarious. You've got me convinced that it's not really all that improbable at all. I am however, sorry to see that it is ending so soon. Your Snape, I think, is particularly accurate in tongue, pride, and his all-together selfish irrationality.

Author's Response: Thank you, marla. I'm afraid after writing this for over a year, it's becoming all too probable to me, so I'd best be on the move before I can no longer create any original characters of my own. Thanks for reviewing!

I hope you don't misunderstand my ranting about Clancy, Vocalion. I love her as a character. Maybe my chatter isn't the right thing in a review - your writing is, as usual, impeccable. The plot is consistent and interesting, the characters are consistent and believable and the humour is outstanding. Clancy is a such a great OFC *because* she has these little flaws. I just love to ponder the ways of fictional characters like - does he deserve her? Does she deserve him? How will she manage being out of her own world for good? Will he be bored by her in the long run? And so on. And I'm sure you'll address many of these topics in your own unique and funny way. So there, have some more chocolate and go get writing, woman! ;-)

Author's Response: Quite all right, Sylvana! I'm happy that some readers like Clancy well enough as a character to even *want* to analyze her. I'm honored that you've taken the time to share your thoughts. :-)

I only just remembered "Murder, She Said", with Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple. I adore Margaret Rutherford and she will always be my favorite Miss Marple even though she was not as true to character as the others who have played the role. Like John Wanye, her own persona was too strong to be overcome in a role, but who cares when it was that persona that came through on the screen.

I rarely write reviews, but I just had to say that this is the funniest and best written story I have come across in the many months I have been reading fan fiction. I love everything about it, the humor is spot on and I love the verbal sparring! Excellent work and worthy of praise indeed.

Author's Response: That's very nice to hear. Thanks for reviewing!

Looking through my favorites tonight and grousing about Occlumency currently being so slow on updating stories, a thought hit me. Is there any way you could fit Margaret Rutherford into your story? The type of character she always played to such perfection would drive Snape up the wall, round the bend, and totally insane. Actually I think Aunt Hilly was probably a Margaret Rutherford type.

Author's Response: Well, the plot is pretty much mapped out as I'm so far along in the story, but it's an interesting request. I am only familiar with Miss Rutherford from the Miss Marple films that air occasionally and from the film version of "Blythe Spirit" which I haven't seen in a number of years. My vision for Aunt Hilly is more along the lines of a Ruth Gordon or Beatrice Lillie type.

Closed my review too soon. When Panpipe gets to Hogwarts I'm sure he will be sorted into Slytherin, he's as snarky as Snape and has too much in common with him not to be a Slytherin. I remember the William Powell- Myrna Loy fishing scene now, it's been a few years since I saw it on TCM. I do remember seeing a fishing contest between a man & a woman in some movie, I think it must have been a British film. It was probably in one of the old Ealing comedies, I loved all of them.
