Reviews for A Right Bastard

You may be repeatedly sorted into Ravenclaw (like myself) but you have a very Slytherin thought process. Maybe you are a "Slytherclaw"! LOL! Loved the hexes and love Snape's contribution to the poor git's impending woes. It looks like Carol and Severus may find some middle ground and become friends. What a powerful combination for Trisha. With allies like that she won't have to worry about enemies. Great interaction between characters. As the plot thickens, I can't wait to see how dear Trisha gets back at that Wicked ol' Witch. Wanna borrow my bucket of water, just in case things fail? I am also looking forward to the part when Trisha finds out about "claiming". You know...he could "claim" me anyday. (Sigh)

Author's Response: LOL, perhaps I am a "Slytherclaw"! I'm so happy you're enjoying this! Carol and Severus do have something in common--Tricia. And Tricia... well, I could say more about her, but I mght ruin a few surprises. (insert evil grin and wild cackle here). I've already 'claimed' Severus more than three times. ;-D I'm just waiting on him.

I thought the exchange between Carol and Brad was lovely and touching. I enjoy the fact that Carol is tough but very loving with her husband. And oh, the claiming! Have I told you how much I adore the entire concept? *rubs hands together* I can't wait to find out Tricia's reaction when she discovers Severus is trying to claim her!

The whole business about "who would she choose"...between Snape and Carol...nasty. Hehe, never make a woman chooses between her oldest friend (or any good friend for that matter) and the man she loves. In the beginning of the chapter, I love how Snape and Carol both had their wands drawn to protect their "women" so to speak. Is it bad for me to think of Carol as the man in the relationship? I have actually been the man in a relationship before...er, never mind that. Which leads me to the ending where Snape and Carol are plotting against Andrews! I chuckled when I read about what they had planned for him.

Author's Response: Thank you, EllieK! Carol and Beau are one of my favorite couples. Beau's not a weak man, he's simply secure enough with himself to not try to change her. I think, growing up a Ripley, he's turned his back on everything he was taught by Hellspeth. ;-D But he's tough in his own way. I can't wait until he & Severus talk.

I think eventually Carol, Beau and Severus will end up as... dare I say 'friends'? Yeah, possibly. ;-D We'll see.

Carol... now will she tell Tricia about claiming? Good question. Of course she will, but how and when... You have to love friends. Which means, I love you ::sniff,sniff::

So Carol now knows about claiming! Will Tricia find out before she inadvertently binds herself to him for good?? Oh dear; good to know that Severus is being his usual devious self. I really enjoyed this chapter, and can't wait to read more. Have to say, though, I did chuckle slightly at Severus' insistence that Tricia is a 'lady'; have you ever watched or heard of Little Britain? It's a sketch show, and there are these two men who dress up as rather bizarre woman and proclaim "I am a lady!" loudly. It's a rather strange show, and very funny, and the line 'She is a lady' just made me smile! Lol. I'll be waiting for an update...

Author's Response: Thanks, Obadiah! Let's see, would you tell your best friend who thinks the man she loves is only having a fling that he had the most honorable intentions towards her? It's just a matter of time. ;-D

Haven't heard of Little Britian, but I'll keep an eye out for them. I've always love British humor, but it's rare here in the States, which is a shame. Except for Benny Hill... who I probably shouldn't give my opinion on. they used to show him right before "Dave Allen At Large". Now, I adored Dave Allen, he was a hoot! My favorite (aside from the constant "Are You Being Served?") was always "Waiting for God". I want to be Diana when I get old! Boy, I strayed here, didn't I? I love comedy, though. Thanks again, Obadiah!

This story is fun -- I just read all twelve chapters in one go! Witty, interesting, plot-containing, and nary a Mary Sue in sight. (And I love your sense of humor. Operation House-Drop, indeed!) I really like the fact that you haven't made Snape go all sappy. I hate when authors do that. He's a little nicer here than he might be, but not implausibly so. Incidentally -- in an earlier chapter, you have Snape reminding Draco that they are merely second cousins thrice removed. This is highly unlikely. Third cousins twice removed, maybe. The "removed" bit refers to generations. For example, suppose Dick and Jane are first cousins. Dick's son Dick Jr. is the second cousin of Jane's daughter Jill. Dick Jr.'s son Dick III is Jill's second cousin once removed. Dick Jr.'s grandson Dick IV is Jill's second cousin twice removed. Dick Jr.'s great-grandson Dick V is Jill's second cousin thrice removed. Snape and Draco are too close in age for there to be three generations between them, I would think. Two generations is doable, though. I have a twice-removed cousin who's only about 25 years younger than I am. Anyhow, I love the story, and am looking forward to more of it. Also, your story "Revenge" is one of the hottest things I've ever read. Very good stuff.

Author's Response: Thank you, FrolickingNomad! I'm so happy you're enjoying this. To be honest, I really didn't know about the second/third bit, however, as wizard's seem to live longer than Muggles, it might be possible to have the second cousin thrice removed, mightn't it?
Oh, heck, I'm just covering my tracks because I had no idea and I'm still not sure what a third cousin is.
Geneology is so confusing to me. My mother's maternal grandmother was married four times and widowed three and had children with all but the last. Eight great-aunts and great-uncles and some of them had second marriages or a child born on the wrong side of the sheets. I'm so confused!!! I'll fix it though. ;-D I could mention my father's side of the family. His father was divorced and my dad was in his 50s when he learned he had a half-sister. He never did find her. Relatives confuse me to this day. Thank for the Heads-up!

LOL very enjoyable chapter, Patricia is such cheerful person, everybody loves her. A big contrast to Severus. I love it! Off to chapter seven now.

Author's Response: Thank you, Lana! You know they say opposites attract. ;-D And there is an attraction.

ARGH! Whimper! Boo hoo! He he! I just love the fact that Beau knows about claiming! So is Carol going to tell? What is Trish going to say? You better have an update soon, or I will...pout! That's about all I can do, huh? By the way, I'm really enjoying the American Wizarding Society. I'd always wondered what it would be like. You've managed to meld American customs and the HP univese well. Keep up the great writing. Next update tomorrow, right? Puppy dog eyes...

Author's Response: Thank you so much, looneyluna! I'm glad you're enjoying it and feel the America Wizarding World is meshing. Having keyboard problems, so next update will be 7-10 days away. Unless Santa drops off an unexpected present.
~Lisa (who knows she hasn't been good enough for a new computer, but perhaps a keyboard?)

I'm really enjoying your take on Severus In America. He should do a World Tour, I'm thinking. And I do like your OFC and her world. One quibble: You refer to Tricia as Patricia, Tricia and Trish. Which is A-OK. But when you introduce a (minor) character named Patty...it's more than my feeble brain can process. I spent a good couple of minutes distracted from your excellent story, and that's not a good thing.

Author's Response: Thank you, Snarkypants! I think he may do World Tour in the future. Tricia is Tricia or Trish to her family and friends. In her own mind, she is Tricia as her cousin is also named Patricia and called Patty. It's a Southern thing to name kids after the family, so you'll end up with with two or three family members with the same name. However, in Severus' mind, she is Patricia. You don't think he'd do a nickname, do you?
I'm sorry you find it confusing, but hopefully it will all eventually make sense. Hopefully. There really is a good reason why a minor character has a similar name. Really. ;-D

Another superb chapter! I'm looking forward to Tricia taking on Rumson!

Author's Response: Thank you, Mariana! It's going to be quite fun to see her plan (once she comes up with it). I promise you, Rumson will not come out unscathed!

Larilee, I have read a lot of fanfic, I love the universe, and yours really stand out. I like your snape very much. You depict a snape that I call canon plus....his progress is a logical progression wiht life's experiences what would be viable and not stuck in his deatheater persona

Author's Response: Windflower, thank you so much for your review! I'm so happy you're enjoying this. I do believe once the War is over, if he survives, he would mellow a bit... not that much, but definitely some. ;-D I'm now so happy!

I like your take on why Remus stuck so close to his fellow Marauders, and I'm glad Severus was there to overhear his conversation with Jackie. "And with his nose, head colds were murder" -- you know I appreciate any amusing reference to Snape's nose, bless his heart. Bless him too, for defending Trish's honor. He may be a right bastard, but at least he's a chivalrous one.

Author's Response: I think Remus and Severus might learn a few things about each other at this conference.
I probably shouldn't pick on his nose. ;-D Couldn't resist that one.
But is is chivalry or pure possessiveness? (insert evil grin here). Thank you so much for reviewing! And I'm glad you still like it!
