Reviews for Un Livre des Herbes Foncées, A Dark Herbal

Another stunning chapter to this epic story, it's one of the best Snape/OC stories ever written and I wait with baited breath for each and every update. Your Snape is more canon and Dark!Snape than most and probably the most interesting in that there's absolutely NO fluff or sweetness about him. You can feel the intensity of his power and his personality and the danger he represents. I love the idea of Hogwarts being a dark place instead of the sweetness and light of a child's story. I can't wait for the next chapter, please update soon....

Discovered this by accident, and have just finished wopping myself about the head, for not paying more attention to Occlumency. I've only just gotten tired of SS/HG and drifted to this site. (Although I will finish writing my latest on that site) Anywho..I've drunk two large glasses of Pinot Nior and smoked ten cigarettes (nasty habit!) whilst reading this lovely, intense, gothic story. You weave words like a spell, grabbing me and holding me in your power! (Insert your own interpretation of evil laughter here!) I love your Snape! He's very very canon and your Davina is the polar opposite of a Mary Sue! (It's fear of Mary Sue that has kept me from this place!)I must confess that I am bitterly disappointed that I have to wait for an update, for you have left me hanging in a delightfully nailbiting position. This is truly a fantastic story. I hope that you are pursuing a professional writing career, I think that you would do quite well. I ramble. Please update soon, as I am anxious to see if she takes Severus to the forest. I am anxious to see if this develops into a delicious, dark, gothic romance, with or without a happy ending. I'm quite happy that this isn't in any way fluffy. Is the eye and the tooth in the forest, Voldemort? Is he lying fallow, trying to regain his strength? Just what is it about Davina that is drawing more danger to the school and it's inhabitants? Too many questions to ponder at this late hour! Looking forward to more! Live long and prosper, Titania

A whirling blackness appeared upon a near hill; a compact tornado composed of cloth and flesh. The figure stood alone against tree and sky, and gold and crimson leaves arose and circled his orbit like so many exotic moons, tumbling and floating. That's a very well-crafted description, one that stands out in my mind when I think about this story. It had been awhile since I read this chapter - I forgot about Penelope's floating universe - nice touch. It makes me wonder how she knew, even as an infant, about the structure of solar systems... maybe part of magic is some sort of instinctive understanding of the physical world? And perhaps this understanding is part of what helps the magical folk bend the rules that the rest of us are bound to? I don't know. Your construct inspires challenging questions; one of the many reasons I like it so much.

OK - I've recovered a little. The spat in the libray had me laughing out loud. Davina is so unsure of herself sometimes in her inner monologues, and yet she busted out with all the fury and maturity of an adolescent when confronted with Snape's nauseating condescension. And yet, how I sympathize with her, for I have thought many times about how frustrating it would be to inhabit a magical world without any of those powers, and especially to butt heads with a certain arrogant, snide, yet unfairly delicious Potions master. Her reaction to him is so believable, mixed fury and desire, pride and surrender. The confrontation between these two is charged with incredible erotic current; Snape taking one step closer to her in your story is somehow hotter than 90% percent of the x-rated loves scenes I've read him in. Which means - if you reach your NC-17 rating, may I send you my hospital bills? Because I fear I'll have a heart attack. Just sayin'.

Author's Response: Heh. I myself may not survive the scene(s) which garner the N-17 rating. Maybe we can be hospitalized together and giggle knowingly over the checker board in the patient's lounge? xxxxx TSH9S

Oh, I love this story so much. Your writing is at once rich and dense, and yet always so clear and flowing, completely devoid of clumsiness or, help us, anvilicious exposition. I love Davina - she is at once timid and fiesty and I find both her inward insecurity and her outward bravado very charming. This chapter actually had me wringing my hands during the Legilimency scene, so frightening were her visions. Also: Sexiest. Snape. EVER. ever-ever. Love him, love the story, love everything. YAY!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your kind, kind words. It is reviews such as yours that give me the energy and desire to continue. Thank you so much, dearheart. TSH9S

YAY!!! I want to leave an intelligent review but my fingers are nearly paralyzed with excitement. They restrict themselves to y-a-y, shift + 1, repeat. I am SO glad you're back! On to the next chapter...YAY!

Author's Response: Ah, bless you. You've just made my week. xxxxx TSH9S

How on earth did I miss the updates to this story? Last I remember Davina was in the hospital wing, convinced Katrina had poisoned her but unable to tell anyone. How magnificent that I get to read more! I'll have to keep a better eye out for updates from now on.

Author's Response: Ah, sweetness. Thank you so much for your review. I try to update at least monthly, so please do keep checking back :)

This is absolutely wonderful. The writing is beautiful and the story is mesmerizing. I'm drawn deeper into the mystery with each sentence. Your characterization of Snape is perfect and Davinia has quickly become one of my favorite OCs.

Author's Response: Ah, my heart swells with your words. I am infinitely flattered, as your own writing is nothing short of sublime. Thank you so much. XXXX TSH9S

*blinks* You updated. This is wonderful! I had given up on ever seeing more of this story. Fascinating turn of events, I am eager to see where this all leads.

Author's Response: Aha! You didn't think I would be able to sneak this update in there when you weren't looking, did you? :-) Thank you for your review XXXX TSH9S
