It's great to see this update. I really enjoy your version of Severus. I hope everything works out for him and Autumn. Looking forward to more. S. K.

Author's Response: Thank you. I'm glad you're enjoying it, and I agree-- I hope everything works out for them too!

"I trust you with my life," Severus replied honestly. "Yes," Dumbledore countered. "But not with your hopes." - That was a good exchange. Happy reading!

Author's Response: Thank you. I really enjoy writing the Snape/Dumbledore dynamic almost as much as I enjoy the Snape/Lupin one. Snape/Dumbledore was one of the original dynamics I was working with in this series, (at the risk of boring-- I set out to explore relationships in the Confucian sense, casting Snape in each of the roles with someone in his life: ruler/subject (he is a ruler as a teacher, a subject as a member of the order/DE) father/son (in the son aspect with Dumbledore, in vague father aspects with Harry, Ron and Amber), elder brother/younger brother (elder to Bill, younger to Arthur) husband/wife (trickier, but he falls into this with Autumn, and to a certain extent with various others) and friend/friend (with Lupin, again among others)

Anyway, thanks for the comment!

Very good, setting up good cop/bad cop with Remus and Severus.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Wait? You want me to wait??
It's another cliffhanger and I want to know what's going to happen next, damnit and you want me to wait? But... but, I get the new HP on Friday night at Midnight, and I'll have it done by Saturday night. What am I going to read that's worth while in the mean time???
:o) Seriously though, I can understand wanting to wait, I'm half tempted to as well, at least until I know whether or not Neville bites the dust. Are you uploading a chapter for anything else before then?

Author's Response: I don't think so, primarily because the muse has been chained to this fic for the last couple of weeks. And, once I get it cleared away, I feel like I can concentrate on some others more effectively. The only reason I posted this chapter was so I could annoucne that I'm on hiatus until I've read HBP. ;)

Thanks for the comments, though. Good to know I'll have someone waiting with bated breath next Tuesday-ish.

Ahhhhh...maybe some "late night" Slytherin's of the Malfoy kind out to help stir up trouble perhaps...hummmm? That was a tense chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying!

I bet the resolution of all that is going to be fun:) Re independence: I think you made a really good point about people just getting into a groove and having a hard time adjusting to a new lifestyle. I wasn't financially on my own before I got married either, so for me it wasn't an adjustment in that sense at all. (But even when I had had a job I didn't equate earning money with *personal* independence because I still had to answer to a boss or customers) But if I had ever been totally on my own for any length of time (meaning I brought home the bacon *and* fried it up in a pan) I can see how not working would feel weird. The thing is though, that considering my basic make-up it would be much harder for me to go from being a lady of leisure to a career woman than the other way around. I guess I was just lucky that I fell into the situation that suited me the best right off the bat. I guess Autumn did too.

Author's Response: Thanks for your comments. As for independence, I think there is a healthy measure of personality involved in what one considers independence. I know women who don't work who find it very liberating to not have to go to the office and answer to a boss. To each her own :)

I command you to quit whatever job you have and do nothing but update all day long. I have spoken. Make it so. And bring back some swedish fish while you're at it.

Author's Response: *snickers* It would be nice. Unfortunately, there's this concept of bill paying, and fanfic doesn't cut it. *le sigh*

Thanks for your comments.

I guess little details catch my eye and make me appreciate the art of the story-teller....what a lovely touch that Severus rarely laughs in public because he learned long ago that people would make fun of the way his laugh sounds. I can kind of relate--people often tell me "we knew you were around, because we heard your laugh" -- and I don't think mine is that bad! Wonderful tiny, much appreciated.

Author's Response: Thank you! That one just jumped out at me and I had to include it. It was a completely random, meaningless detail, but then, the collective term for completely random, meaningless details is 'life' ;)

Thanks for your comments!
