Reviews for Casting Shadows

Yikes! Will Firenze tell the Snapes that he saw their daughter/Voldie? A new Dark Lord isn't "the ways of men" - it would affect centaurs too. And Hermione and Severus should indeed have used a silencing charm! Little kids always have big ears. Grumble...foolish decisions.... Thanks for the chapter - the suspense builds!

I am really enjoying your story (as always). I just love your writing!

This is the most hellish nightmare any parents must face. And Ella is so fragile and Severus so fragile (in his own way). If they can survive this and save their daughter, they can survive anything. ~Lisa

I hope Hermione noticed everything - Mr Dearborn's symptoms, Seffie's attitude, etc. - so she can tell Severus and Ella. I'm glad S&E had some intimate time together; it really has been a long time since they were together on Seffie's bday. Thanks for the update!

You know, when I read Snape in Love I was always a little upset with Ella when she went to Beaubaton's without telling Snape about the baby. Her hormones really did a number on her. I had no idea that she suffered so severly from mental illness from time to time. Speaking from personal experience, both mine and from close observation of several members of my family, you did a wonderful job describing the thoughts and feelings of a woman with mental illness.

This was a great chapter. I am wondering if this will have a happy, bitttersweet, or terribly sad ending. I agree with another who siad that you do an admirable job of continuing this story, showing what happens after happily ever after. I always look forward to your updates. Whoever would have known that Severus would find a woman with issues as substantial as his.

Author's Response: Thank you very, very much. It's nice to know that I am conveying Ella's struggles convincingly. I never wanted to write a Mary Sue (even though I admit to a small degree of self-insertion, ie the psychological problems Ella suffers). I wanted to create an OFC whose issues were just as bad as his, and which sprang from the same events. I'm glad you think that I have succeeded.

This story is simply brilliant. The description of Ella's mental illness is harrowing, and yet very truthful. Her internal conflict; her fear that Severus will detest her for her 'selfishness' all are written frighteningly accurately. I feel sorry for everyone in this story: Severus for his uncertainty in the future - it seems as though he's finding it increasingly hard to keep a hold on everything, as everything spins out of control - and poor Persephone - I think I might collapse from the strain this story is putting me under! Seriously, congrats, you deserve it!

Author's Response: I'm glad you find it convincing. Putting such feelings into words is not easy, and I seem to have struck a chord with quite a few people. And yes, Severus is used to being in control of his environment, as is Ella. It's frightening when one realises one really isn't in control of anything, after all; and for Seffie to realise her father isn't a superhero is all apart of growing up, too.

Poor Celsus! I do hope his parents (esp. Severus) don't forget him in their concern for Seffie's wellbeing. Isn't there anyone who can help with Seffie - Dumbledore??

Author's Response: Can Dumbledore help? Well... if you had a sneak preview of the next chapter then you'd know the answer to that question, LOL! And it is very easy for them to forget about him, and each other. :-((

I am so delighted that you are continuing with this saga. I like the fact that you are tackling the question what happens after happily ever after. Very well done, including depictions of neuroses/mental illness. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you're still enjoying it! And yes, even when people are very happily married there can still be problems. We can't expect happily ever after, that only happens in fairy tales...and I didn't want to write a fairy tale! Even if this story has a happy resolution, these people are living real lives (to me, anyway! LOL!).

I read this and realized I kept forgetting to breathe while reading. Ella is so fragile; Severus is feeling impotent (something I'd never think to say about our Potions Master); and poor Seffie... I'm very anxious to see where you will take this for resolution. ~Lisa

Author's Response: Thanks! I like to address the issue of our sense of being in control; how much control do we really have over our lives, and what happens when we realise we're at the whim of fate and other people.

Wow! Now is she going to be the next Dark Lady? This is fascinating reading. I'm so glad you updated. And was Pettigrew finally destroyed? I keep hoping. ~Lisa
