This is an incredible story. I have just read it at one sitting and am endlessly impressed - except for one thing - this bloody cliff-hanger at chapter 39. It simply won't do! You must immediately correct this by writing several new chapter and posting them - immediately!!

I love this story! I've always said the most interesting things in OOtP was stuff going on off-page at No. 12 Grimmauld Pl. Cool to be a fly on that wall. Plus, I love your Snape. Expanding his character just enough to be interesting but stopping short of OOC.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I love seeing that type of review, because I keep worrying that I'm getting Snape too far away from character. After all, it was the Greasy Git I fell in love with, not a romanticized frock-coated, urbane, broad-shouldered, tall, dark and handsome reflection of him (not that I don't enjoy reading those, mind you, but I'm trying very hard to maintain the greasy git in my own fic and...)
meh. *open mouth, insert foot.* |

"Charmed" is a perfect title for this chapter. I found it to be utterly charming---I love the interaction between Snape and the OFC. Certainly shows another side to Snape!

oh. my. god. this is one of the best pieces i have ever seen. i hate wips, but yours dragged me along for the ride. i can't say how wonderful i think this is, but i have slogged through a lot of inane shit, and to discover something this good, this far along into the muck of fanfic- a blessing indeed. your characterization of severus is stunning. thanks for taking the time to tell your tale. i look forward to the rest. very forward.b
Author's Response: thank you for the praise. I appreciate the vehemence of your commendation |

Wow, what an intro to magic...your childhood nightmare comes alive! This is continuing to be a great story!
Author's Response: *giggles* From the first time I saw the boggart scene in PoA (saw the movie before reading the book) I thought 'ooh. the monster under the bed.' So I was thinking about what *my* boggart would be... And I realized it would be this monster my cousins used to scare me with, and I ran with that theme. You'll see more of my own reaction to magic in Autumn as the story progresses. |

I've been reading this story almost continually for two days. It's excellent. I especially like how you don't spell out every little detail right away, but rather hint first and give full explanations later when the situation calls for it. I love what you've done so far and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Author's Response: It's coming as fast as I can submit chapters ;)
As for the hinting at things-- foreshadowing is one of my favorite techniques. Unfortunately, it isn't as effective in a first draft. This story might be edited when it's all done to work in more of it. |

Thanks for the update! I love the new, more thoughtful Snape. It's interesting getting in his mind and seeing his general fatigue and re-birth.
~Lisa
Author's Response: I keep fearing I'm getting too angsty, which isn't my intention. But at the same time, I love digging into a character's mind, and I think Snape's a wonderfully complicated character to work with. |
