Yes Snape was out of character, but within the confines of your story he seems consistant. I like how you had Filch interrupt about the disturbance in the restricted section. Author's Response: Perhaps he's consistent, but I still worry about the OOC-ness present in this chapter and the one before. Perhaps someday I'll find some way to make it not quite so bad. As for Filch...well, I figured that I should try to introduce some element of the canon here, as the story takes place in the background of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". =)

I don't mind Snape getting a little OOC. I'm having trouble envisioning him doing a cartwheel, even though he's only thinking of it and not actually doing it. Way too much fabric to pull it off, but a very funny image. Your take on his Deatrh Eater days is similar to my own, and I hope J.K. doesn't prove us wrong. I'm becoming quite addicted to your Author's Notes. The only criticism I would make, and it's very slight, is that in the last chapter Geillis said "Merry Christmas" to Dumbledore, and now in this chapter she says "Happy Christmas" to Snape. The latter is the best way, I think. Still loving...still reading... Author's Response: Whoops...in between the two chapters in its first posting over at ff.net, someone e-mailed me and mentioned quietly that "Happy Christmas" is more common over in the British Isles. (Being Canadian, I had no idea.) I corrected it in the second of the two chapters, but not the first. Thanks. =)
